HELL'S KITCHEN — The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum will be home to Stormtroopers, Spider-Man and even Broadway stars for nine days straight as part of the museum's annual Kids Week.
Starting Saturday and running through Feb. 23, the Intrepid will host a variety of entertaining and educational sessions, starting with two days that mix science and science fiction — complete with roving "Star Wars" characters.
Along with checking out characters from the 501st Legion, a collection of "Star Wars" costume enthusiasts, on Saturday and Sunday kids will be able to meet astronaut Nicole Scott, learn about comets, build robots and play with 3-D printers in hands-on workshops. There's even a lecture that gives the "real scoop on space poop."
On Monday, the museum, which had 1 million visitors last year, will become a Hall of Justice as superheroes take over the ship, with talks about real-life heroes who fought in the World Wars or went to space. There will also be tours of the museum's aircraft collection.
Tuesday will bring Broadway to the Intrepid, with a showcase featuring performers from "Pippin," "Cinderella" and "Matilda," along with a dance clinic with the Rockettes.
Wednesday will transform the Intrepid into a safari, with animals from the Central Park Zoo and a talk about animals that have been to space. Thursday will be all about music, with a performance by the cast of "STOMP."
On Friday, kids can learn all about where the Intrepid traveled when it was an active aircraft carrier.
Finally, Feb. 22 and 23 will bring sports and games to the museum, with displays from the New York Jets and Rangers, and a chance to meet Mr. Met.
Many of the activities are included in the price of admission, which is $10 for children ages 3 to 6, $17 for kids ages 7 to 17, and $22 for adults. Some guided tours and simulator rides will cost an additional fee.
