MELROSE — Mayor Bill de Blasio called for a review of the "policies and practices at ACS" on Thursday, a day after a Far Rockaway mother was arrested in the beating death of her 2-year-old daughter.

Ashley Diaz, 28, was charged with second-degree murder after her daughter Kevasia Edwards was found unresponsive in their apartment at Beach 56th Place on Monday.

"We are going to take a very deep look and come back to the public with a vision of how to move forward," the mayor said at an unrelated press conference in the Bronx Thursday afternoon. "I cannot accept the death of any child and we have to make sure we are doing everything possible to protect our children."
