GREENWICH VILLAGE — A fire broke out in a laundromat near NYU on Tuesday afternoon, the FDNY said.

The fire started at 2:37 p.m. at Campus Laundry and Cleaners, Inc., 146 W. Fourth St. near Sixth Avenue, the FDNY said. The four-story building has residential units above the laundromat.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control at 4:03 p.m.

The owner of the laundromat was inside when the fire started, but was evacuated unharmed, an FDNY deputy chief said at the scene. One firefighter suffered a minor injury and was taken to an area hospital for treatment, the deputy chief said.

The FDNY said the cause of the fire was still under investigation as of early Wednesday morning.
