WOODSIDE — Police are searching for a burglary suspect who followed a woman into her Woodside apartment and punched her in the face before fleeing empty-handed.

The man approached the 65-year-old victim as she entered her apartment near 50th Street and 43rd Avenue last Thursday about 6 p.m., police said.

Once inside, he threw the woman to the ground and punched her in the head, according to the NYPD. The victim suffered bruising and swelling to her lip.

The suspect, who fled without taking anything, is described as between 50 and 60 years old, with light-colored hair, and weighing between 170 and 190 pounds. He was last seen wearing a baseball cap, dark clothing and white sneakers, according to police.
