UPPER WEST SIDE — Antique store Olde Good Things' Columbus Avenue outpost may become a thing of the past after its lease runs out in May, a broker for the space said.
The antiques chain, which has five locations in New York City and others across the country, has not been able to negotiate a new lease for the space, said broker Rafe Evans from Walker Malloy and Company, which is marketing the address.
The 2,800-square-foot store on Columbus Avenue between West 81st and 82nd streets is now on the market for $35,000 a month, according to the brokerage's listing. Evans said he discussed a lease renewal with Olde Good Things but listed the property after the two sides couldn't come to an agreement.
A person at the store claiming to speak on behalf of management declined to comment, but an employee at the company's headquarters in Scranton, Pa., said they are working to hammer out a deal.
"We are trying to negotiate to stay there," said the employee, Jerry Fair.
The chain sells antiques and architectural salvage pieces, with some items ringing in at more than $20,000.
In early January, a news report exposed poor conditions at a Haitian orphanage run by the Church of Bible Understanding, which owns Olde Good Things.
