MANHATTAN — Police arrested a man for throttling and raping an East Village woman in her apartment Monday.
Fermin Flores, 32, followed the 22-year-old woman down the hallway of her East 7th Street building and then pushed his way inside her apartment before sexually assaulting her, according to the NYPD.
The woman was taken to Beth Israel Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Flores, who lives at 530 West 163rd St. was charged with rape, burglary, criminal sex act and strangulation.
He is expected to be arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court.
"They had flashlights and were looking on the fire escapes," said a 27-year-old woman, who declined to give her name, the day of the attack. "It's terrifying something like that would happen."
