CROWN HEIGHTS — A woman was shot in the knee and seriously injured during a robbery by an acquaintance on Eastern Parkway last week, police sources said.
The 49-year-old victim was walking along Eastern Parkway between Rogers and Nostrand avenues about 10:45 p.m. last Friday when she was attacked, police said. The assailant made off with her purse, which contained an unknown amount of cash.
The woman was taken to Kings County Hospital in serious condition, the FDNY said.
Police were still searching for the suspect as of Thursday.
The woman was one of six people robbed in Crown Heights in the first week of 2014 — and one of two robbed at gunpoint, police said.
On Sunday, a man was robbed of his wallet at gunpoint at the corner of Crown Street and Schenectady Avenue at 6 a.m., police said. No one was immediately arrested.
Despite a summer spike in robberies in the 71st Precinct last year, robberies overall were flat year over year, with 324 in the precinct in 2013, compared to 321 in 2012, according to data released by the NYPD.
Other recent crimes in the 71st Precinct included the following:
► A 58-year-old woman was grabbed and choked for her purse just after midnight on New Year's Day at 150 Hawthorne St., police said.
► A woman's bag was snatched from behind as she walked on Maple Street between Flatbush and Bedford avenues about 2:15 a.m. Jan. 1, police said.
► Two teens scuffled with a 25-year-old man over his phone at 11 a.m. on Crown Street between Brooklyn and Kingston avenues, police said. The teens snatched the phone and were later arrested, police said, but their names were withheld by authorities because they are minors.
