COBBLE HILL — A water main break at Long Island College Hospital Wednesday night forced the hospital to temporarily divert ambulances to other facilites, officials said.

The break, which occured about 8:15 p.m., sent some water into an ambulance bay, NY1 reported, as well as affecting LICH's laboratory services, the hospital said.

Maintenance crews assessed the situation and conducted necessary repair work, according to hospital spokesman Ronald Najman.

Ambulance service resumed shortly after 2 p.m. on Thursday, after the FDNY gave permission to take LICH's Emergency Deparment off the diversion status, Najman said.
