UPPER WEST SIDE — An Upper West Side resident had a rought start to 2014 when a man he met at a club on New Year's Eve stole cash and a computer from his home, police said.
The 52-year-old victim returned to his apartment on West 66th Street on New Year's Eve with a man he had met at a nightclub and invited him to stay the night, according to a police report.
When the resident awoke at 5:30 a.m., he saw that the male guest, who he'd met for the first time the previous evening, had bolted, taking with him $600 in cash and his laptop, police said.
Police did not have a description of the suspect.

Employees of a Duane Reade at the corner of Amsterdam Avenue and West 59th Street reported that someone stole $2,500 worth of Mucinex and a type of test strip on Dec. 28 about 7:30 p.m., according to a police report. Employees did not see the theft occur and could offer no description of any potential suspects, police reported. Duane Reade did not respond to request for comment.

A woman reported that her purse was stolen, including credit cards and $60, while she was sitting in a Starbucks at West 65th Street and Columbus Avenue on Jan. 4 at 2 p.m., police said. Starbucks did not return a request for comment.

A woman had her iPhone 5 stolen out of her hand by an unknown man at West 66th Street and Amsterdam Avenue on Jan. 5 at 7:30 p.m., according to police. There was no description of the perpetrator available.

A newsstand at West 67th and Broadway had $3,200 in cash stolen after someone clipped its lock, police said. The robbery was reported to the police on Jan. 6 at 8 a.m., but there were no witnesses, police added.
