SHEEPSHEAD BAY — A man was killed while crossing the Belt Parkway between exits 7 and 8 on Saturday morning, police said.
Police responding to calls of a pedestrian struck, found the man, in his 30s, lying in the roadway with severe bodily trauma at around 4:45 a.m. in the vicinity of Coney Island Avenue.
Rescuers declared the victim dead at the scene, police said. An initial investigation discovered that the man, who was not identified immediately, had been crossing the highway when he was hit by an eastbound vehicle, whose driver remained on the scene, police said.
An investigation was ongoing.
