UPPER WEST SIDE — The Burberry Brit store at 160 Columbus Ave. was robbed of $16,620 worth of merchandise last week when three men entered the store and made off with a bag full of scarves, wallets, shirts and iPhone cases, police said.
On Dec. 7 at 12:30 p.m. three men entered the store and took out a bag into which they placed merchandise, telling shoppers and staff "don't come near," "it's not about you, just stay away," and "it's not personal," police said.
A witness said two of the men then fled northbound on Columbus Avenue and jumped into a green Toyota Camry with New York plates at West 69th Street and Broadway, according to a police report.
Two of the men were in their early 30s and one was about 40, witnesses told police.
The thieves made off with 26 Burberry scarves, worth $11,535, 12 Burberry polo shirts worth $2,100, seven Burberry wallets worth $1,885 and four Burberry iPhone cases worth $740, police said.
Store staff said they could not comment on the crime, and the corporate office did not respond to an inquiry.

A 22-year-old man locked his wallet in a locker at the Gertrude Ederle Recreation Center on West 60th Street with a combination lock at 6 p.m on Dec. 3, he told police. When he returned to his locker later, the wallet was gone, which had in it his MetroCard and a debit card. The Parks Department did not return a request for comment on the theft. A similar theft occurred last month.

An 82-year-old man told police a man tried to climb into his second-floor apartment on West 77th Street through the window by using a ladder from the back of the building just after midnight on Dec. 7, he told police. The would-be burglar then fled, carrying the ladder.

A 55-year-old woman moving in to The Larstrand, the new luxury rental apartment on West 77th Street, said she realized several of her boxes were missing last week after moving into a brand-new floor of the complex. Her unit is the only open one on the floor and construction is still underway on the surrounding units, with contractors and workers coming and going. There were no signs of forced entry, police said. The woman said she had still been figuring out the locks for the apartment. She lost $59 worth of glasses and plates, $200 in women’s clothing, an $89 blender and vases worth $125, she told police.

A 23-year-old homeless man was arrested for trying to rob the Bank of America branch at Broadway and West 72nd Street. The man entered the bank on Dec. 6 at 2:39 p.m. and presented the teller with a California license for a man she said looked like he was 69-years-old. The teller said the card and the Social Security card he presented both appeared to be forged. The man signed a bank withdrawal slip and requested $2,500. The bank staff delayed him until police arrived and arrested him, according to a police report. Bank of America did not return a request for comment.
