TODT HILL — A two vehicle crash on Staten Island left one man dead and another two people in hospital Saturday, police said.

The crash took place at around 5:05 a.m outside 715 Todt Hill Road, when a 2007 Hyundai Electra collided head-on with a white Nissan box truck that had been traveling in the opposite direction on the road, police said.

Vincent Gagliardi, 20, of Shore Acres was driving the Hyundai and was found by police with severe body trauma at the scene. Emergency rescuers pronounced him dead at the scene of the crash. Gagliardi's passenger, a 20-year-old woman who has not been named by police, was taken with the unidentified 28-year-old male driver of the Nissan truck to Staten Island University North Hospital suffering from body trauma, and both were listed in serious but stable condition.

The NYPD Highway Patrol Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the exact nature of the incident.
