THE BRONX — A Bronx MTA bus hit and killed an elderly woman in Co-op City on Friday evening, according to police.

Gloria Mabry, 74, was crossing the street on Dreiser Loop at the corner with Co-op City Boulevard at at around 6:44 p.m. when she was hit by a MTA BX38 bus, police said after an investigation. Officers responding to the incident found Mabry unconcious and unresponsive at the scene, police said.

EMS also responded to the emergency call, and rushed Mabry to Jacobi Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival, according to officials.

An initial investigation by cops found that the BX38 had been travelling westbound on Co-op City Boulevard when it made a left turn onto Dreiser Loop, fatally striking Mabry, police said. The bus operator stayed on the scene and an investigation into the fatal accident is ongoing.
