Weekend Service Changes Will Disrupt 12 Subway Lines

NEW YORK CITY — The Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting traffic nightmare may be over, but holiday gridlock persists.  It's a better bet to travel underground, even with the weekend subway service changes.

Here's the breakdown:

6 Line: Pelham Bay Park-bound trains will run express from Parkchester to Pelham Bay Park from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday.

Trains are also skipping Middletown Road and Castle Hill Avenue in both directions at all times until May 2014.

A Line: Trains are not running between Broad Channel and Far Rockaway-Mott Avenue from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Trains will be rerouted to Rockaway Park. Shuttle buses will operate between Beach 90th Street and Far Rockaway.

D Line: Trains will run in two sections, between Stillwell Avenue and Bedford Park Boulevard and between Bedford Park Boulevard and 205th Street from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday.

F Line: There will be no service between Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue and Avenue X from 12:45 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday. Shuttle buses will run between Stillwell Avenue and Avenue X, stopping at West 8th Street and Neptune Avenue.

G Line: Trains will not operate between Nassau Avenue and Court Square from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of ongoing Sandy recovery work. Shuttle buses will run in two sections, between Nassau Avenue and Court Square and between Lorimer Street and Court Square.

J Line: Northbound trains will run express from Myrtle Avenue to Broadway Junction from 5:45 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday.

M Line: There will be no service between Metropolitan Avenue and Myrtle Avenue from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Free shuttle buses will make all station stops.

Q Line: Trains will not run between Stillwell Avenue and Brighton Beach from 12:45 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday. Shuttle buses will run between Stillwell Avenue and Brighton Beach, stopping at West 8th Street and Ocean Parkway.

N Line: Late-night service will be rerouted over the Manhattan Bridge.

R Line: Trains will run over the Manhattan Bridge. There will be no service in either direction at Jay Street-Metro Tech, Court Street, Whitehall Street, Rector Street, Cortlandt Street and City Hall.

Late-night shuttle service is unaffected.

Rockaway Shuttle: Service will be suspended from 11:00 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday and replaced by the A train.

Franklin Avenue Shuttle: Trains will run every 24 minutes from 6:00 a.m. Saturday to 6:00 p.m. Saturday.
