Driver Injured After Slamming Into Tree on Staten Island, Police Say

STATEN ISLAND — A driver was injured after slamming into a tree near a Bloomfield intersection early Wednesday morning, officials said.

The motorist, whose identity was not immediately known, crashed at the intersection of Edward Curry and Gulf avenues about 1:54 a.m., FDNY and NYPD officials said.

The driver was rushed to Staten Island University Hospital and listed in stable condition, police said.
