Man Choked and Robbed in Lower East Side Elevator, Police Say

LOWER EAST SIDE — Three people attacked a man in a Lower East Side elevator, choking him and stealing $420 in cash, police said.

The 45-year-old man was trying to leave the elevator in a building near Clinton and Henry streets about 9 p.m. Nov. 23 when he was grabbed from behind by two of the suspects, according to a surveillance video released by police. A third suspect joined in as the other two suspects held the victim down and choked him while searching him for cash, police said.

The three suspects — two men and one woman — fled on foot with the money, according to police.

The victim was not injured, police said.

 About $420 in cash was stolen from a 45-year-old victim in a robbery, according to police.
