BUSHWICK — Pre-revolutionary France is making a renaissance at a Brooklyn bistro celebrating its anniversary this weekend.
Mominette is celebrating its first birthday with an elegant party featuring bite-sized dishes, 18th century French costumes, tarot card readings and an all-night happy hour — just weeks after the French eatery was listed on the Michelin guide of recommended restaurants in the area.
Mominette's party, designed to mimic one of French high society's "opulent parties known as Les Fêtes Galantes," is designed to be "a night of debaucherous reawakening," the owners wrote in an email announcing the event.
"An epoch marked by an aesthetic sensibility of decadence, mythology and pleasure, Fête is a party alluring to romantic souls with a love for frivolity and the bizarre," they said of the festivity.
"So is the spirit chosen to celebrate the first birthday of Mominette."
The menu includes cheese, charceuterie and small plates by Mominette's chef, the owners said. Revelers who attend in costume can compete for an $80 gift certificate to the eatery.
