Drunk Driver Arrested After Fatally Striking Man in Harlem, Police Say

WEST HARLEM — A drunk driver was arrested after he struck and killed a 65-year-old man that was crossing St. Nicholas Avenue on Sunday morning, police said.

Julien Prince, 23, was driving a gray Honda Accord south on St. Nicholas when he hit 65-year-old Willie Zachary who emerged from two parked vehicles to cross between West 131st and 132nd street, the NYPD said.

Zachary, who lived on the block, lay unresponsive in the roadway, and rescuers declared the man dead at the scene, police said.

Prince remained at the scene, his car's windshield shattered and right side significantly damaged, the NYPD said.

Prince, who lives in Canarsie, faced charges of driving drunk and vehicular manslaughter, police said.
