NORWOOD — An elderly man was found dead in his Bronx living facility with a wire hanger wrapped around his neck on Friday evening, police said.

Miguel Sanchez, 72, was discovered at the Bainbridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, laying in his bed, unconscious and not responding, with a wire hanger around his throat at 8:06 p.m., police said.

The officers showed up after police got a 911 call reporting an assault at the 3518 Bainbridge Ave. facility, the NYPD said.

A receptionist at the nursing home said no managers were available to discuss the death, and that he could not comment on the matter.

Rescuers declared Sanchez dead at the scene, and police were awaiting a Medical Examiner's report to determine if the death was a homicide. An investigation was ongoing.
