Pedestrian Hit by Taxi on West Side Highway

GREENWICH VILLAGE — A man was hospitalized after he was struck by a cab on the West Side Highway Friday morning, authorities said.

The crash occurred about 7:40 a.m. at West and Christopher streets and left the man with injuries to the upper body, an FDNY official said. The man, whose identity was not immediately known, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Bellevue Hospital Center.

A cab with a missing front bumper, a deployed driver's side airbag and four flat tires remained on the scene, near the bike path along the Hudson River.

It was not immediately known what caused the crash.
