Marathon Street Closures to Hit all Five Boroughs Sunday

NEW YORK CITY — Thousands of runners will hit the city's streets on Sunday for the ING New York City Marathon — causing road closures and traffic changes across the five boroughs.

Bridges and streets will be shut down starting early Sunday morning all along the 26.2-mile race's route, which starts on Staten Island and finishes in Central Park.

Here are details on how each borough will be affected:

Staten Island

The Verrazano-Narrows Bridge's upper level will be closed from midnight to 3 p.m. Sunday, and the entire bridge will be closed from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Brooklyn

Fourth Avenue will be closed from 82nd Street to Flatbush Avenue from 7:15 a.m. to 1:35 p.m.

Flatbush Avenue will be closed from 4th Avenue to Lafayette Avenue from 7:30 a.m. to 1:35 a.m.

Lafayette Avenue will be closed from Flatbush Avenue to Bedford Avenue from 8 a.m. to 2:05 p.m.

Bedford Avenue will closed from Lafayette Avenue to Manhattan Avenue from 7:35 a.m. to 2:50 p.m.

Manhattan Avenue will be closed from Bedford Avenue to Greenpoint Avenue from 7:45 a.m. to 2:55 p.m.

Greenpoint Avenue will be closed from Manhattan Avenue to McGuinness Boulevard from 8 a.m. to 3:05 p.m.

McGuinness Boulevard will be closed from Greenpoint Avenue to the Pulaski Bridge from 8 a.m. to 3:05 p.m.

The Pulaski Bridge will be closed from 8 a.m. to 3:05 p.m.

Queens

Eleventh Street will be closed from the Pulaski Bridge to 48th Avenue from 8 a.m. to 3:05 p.m.

Forty-Eighth Avenue will be closed from 11th Street to Vernon Boulevard from 8 a.m. to 3:05 p.m.

Vernon Boulevard will be closed from 48th Avenue to 10th Street from 8 a.m. to 3:05 p.m.

Forty-fourth Drive will be closed from 10th Street to Hunter Street from 8:30 a.m. to 3:20 p.m.

Hunter Street will be closed from 44th Drive to Crescent Street 8:30 a.m. to 3:20 p.m.

Crescent Street will be closed  from Hunter Street to Queens Boulevard from 8:30 a.m. to 3:20 pm.

Queens Boulevard will be closed from the Queensboro Bridge to Crescent Street from 8:30 a.m. to 3:20 p.m.

The Queensboro Bridge will be closed from 7 a.m. to 3:45 pm.

Manhattan

First Avenue will be closed from East 59th Street to the Willis Avenue Bridge from 8:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The Willis Avenue Bridge will be closed from 8:45 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

East 138th Street will be closed from Fifth Avenue to the Madison Avenue Bridge from 9:00 a.m. to 5:05 p.m.

5th Avenue will be closed from East 90th Street to East 120th Street, and from East 124th Street to East 138th Street, from 9 a.m. to 5:35 p.m.

Mount Morris Parkway will be closed from West 120th Street to West 124th Street from 9 a.m. to 5:20 p.m.

Central Park East Drive will be closed from West 59th Street to East 90th Street all day.

Central Park South (59th Street from Fifth Avenue to Columbus Circle) will be closed from 9 a.m. to 6:15 p.m.

Central Park West Drive will be closed from West 59th Street to West 67th Street all day.

The Bronx

Willis Avenue will be closed from the Willis Avenue Bridge to East 135th Street from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

East 135th Street will be closed from Alexander Avenue to Willis Avenue from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Alexander Avenue will be closed from East 135th Street to East 138th Street from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

East 138th Street will be closed from Morris Avenue to Alexander Avenue, and from the Madison Avenue Bridge to Rider Avenue, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Morris Avenue will be closed from East 138th Street to East 140th Street from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

East 140th Street will be closed from Rider Avenue to Morris Avenue from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Rider Avenue will be closed from East 138th Street to East 140th Street from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Madison Avenue Bridge will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
