SOHO — One of the founders of trendy eyeglass shop Warby Parker has launched a brick-and-mortar barbershop in SoHo.

The Corner Shop, a two-chair cutting station at 64 MacDougal St., is owned by Jeff Raider, who helped found Warby Parker and also launched Harry’s, the online-only, low-cost razor company. The new barber shop will offer patrons cuts, trims and shaves, as well as sell Harry’s razors, blades and shaving cream.

“It’s hard to beat an in-person interaction and, as we’re looking to continue to expand our brand and bring our brand to life, it’s important to have that face-to-face interaction and really get to know our customers,” said Jason Semine, a spokesman for the Corner Shop.

The Corner Shop’s new space is small, at just over 300 square feet, with a pair of 1920s barber chairs, a black-and-white tile floor and a vintage record player. The walls are hung with an array of 1950s pictures of men's hairstyles. A shave will cost $30 and a cut $35, organizers said.

Starting Oct. 29, The Corner Shop will be open Monday to Friday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Appointments can be booked on The Corner Shop’s website, though walk-ins are welcome, too.

Semine said the founders of Harry's had always wanted to open a barbershop.

“There are things barbers know about the hair follicles and your skin that many guys may not know," Semine said.

But despite its retro aesthetic, the barbershop has many modern touches. An iPad application created for The Corner Shop allows customers to make accounts and store photos of each cut or shave they receive, which barbers can view and reference during future visits.
