Woman Gets Black Eye From Thief Who Tried to Take Her Purse, Police Say

QUEENS — A woman was on her way to work Sunday morning when a man punched her and unsuccessfully tried to grab her purse, police said.

The 47-year-old woman, whose identity was not released, was near 44th Drive and 11th Street when a man punched her in the face and tried to take her bag, the NYPD said.

He fled empty-handed, police said.

The woman received a black eye as a result, an NYPD spokesman said.
