MIDTOWN — Two teenage girls suspected of shoplifting were arrested after a security guard found a fetus in a bag carried by one of them, according to authorities.

A guard at the Victoria's Secret at 1328 Broadway in Herald Square confronted Tiana Rodriguez, 17, and Francis Estevez, 17, in the store about 1:24 p.m. on suspicion of stealing and asked to look through their bags, sources said.

Rodriguez told the security guard, "I've got a baby in my bag," a source said.

He searched the bag, which had a strong odor, and found a male fetus, police said. The girl gave birth Wednesday, according to the source.

Rodriguez was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where she is in stable condition, according to an NYPD spokeswoman.

Remains were found in the bag of two teenage girls suspected of shoplifting, police said.

Investigators were seen taking two large brown paper bags stamped with "NYPD Biological Evidence" from a back room of the store.

A medical examiner's was inconclusive on the cause of death or if they baby was full-term.

The teens were charged with petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property, police said.

Rodriguez, who used the name "Tiona" on her Facebook profile, had been behaving unusually recently, according to a neighbor who saw her at a bus stop on Wednesday.

"She was always happy-go-lucky, but the last couple days, she didn't seem like that. She always greeted you with a bright smile, but it wasn't bright [on Wednesday]. She didn't have her usual glow," said Rodriguez's downstairs neighbor Jamilla Daise.

Rodriguez, who lived in Bed-Stuy, was also raising a 2-year-old son, said Daise, 36, who's known the teen for years.

"She's a good mom. She had that first baby by herself, but she did alright," Daise said. "She was a proud mother. She could see herself in him."

Rodriguez aspired to be a writer, according to Daise.

"She wanted to do something. She didn't want to be here," the neighbor said.

Midtown shoppers were stunned by the discovery on Thursday.

"I think it's crazy," said Jazmine Barret, 24, who works at the Jacob Javits Center and shops frequently at the lingerie store. "I just had a baby. I'm in shock."

A spokeswoman at Victoria's Secret declined to comment.
