WOODSIDE — The renowned British street artist Banksy left his mark on the side of a brick building in Queens, the latest in his tour around New York City.
The black-and-white stencil of a man scrubbing off a pink quote written in cursive was first discovered on 38th Avenue and 69th Street in Woodside on Monday morning.
On his website, Banksy attributed the quote, "What we do in life echoes in Eternity," to the 2000 film "Gladiator."
The piece was first reported by Gothamist after a tipster sent in a photo on her way to work.
Kain Vuong, 34, rushed over from Sunnyside to check out the piece of art.
"It's been getting really boring in New York, nothing's been going on," he said. "I'm glad Banksy's back and putting stuff up."
But not everyone standing nearby was aware of the spectacle.
Luis Morales said he arrived on 69th Street at 7 a.m. to look for work on construction jobs. He said he didn't see the work as it was getting painted but he did notice the large crowd.
"I see a lot of people taking picture," he said. "I don't know why it's significant."
