Motorcyclist Killed, Another Injured After Cross Island Parkway Crash

COLLEGE POINT — A motorcyclist was thrown from his bike and died after colliding with a barrier on the Cross Island Parkway Sunday.

Police from downtown Flushing responded to a 911 call at 5:36 a.m. On arrival at the scene of the crash, they found the motorcycle driver lying on the ground with severe trauma to the body. EMS, which also responded, pronounced him dead at the scene of the crash. 

The dead man was identified as David Wilson, a 27-year-old from, South Richmond Hill. His family has been notified of his death, said police. 

Wilson had been carrying a male passenger on the back of his 2008 model Suzuki bike at the time of the crash. The unidentified passenger, also 27, was transported to the Queens General Hospital at Elmhurst for treatment. He is in a stable condition, having suffered from abrasions to the body, according to police. 

On immediate investigation, officers discovered that Wilson had been travelling northbound on the Cross Island near the Whitestone Expressway when he hit a barrier thereat. There were no other vehicles or persons involved in the incident, officials said.

Investigations were still ongoing into the exact nature of the crash, said police.
