NEW YORK — Amtrak's Acela service between New York and Boston has been canceled through the weekend, according to the company's website.

The cancellations came after a power outage on the New Haven line, which has disrupted Metro-North and Amtrak service since Wednesday. A 138,000-volt cable shorted out in Mount Vernon, causing delayed and canceled service.

"I don't know why all of them are canceled," said one commuter whose regional train from New York to Boston was delayed a half hour. "It's not the end of the world, but it's a nuisance. You want to get to your place on time."

Regional service was still running along Amtrak's Northeast Corridor between New York and Boston as of Friday morning.

Limited Metro-North service was running Friday.

The MTA's website has a breakdown of how trains are running.
