CARROLL GARDENS — A new commanding officer has been appointed to lead the 76th Precinct, officials said.

Capt. Justin Lenz will replace the precinct's current chief, Deputy Inspector Jeffrey Schiff, who served at the South Brooklyn precinct for a year and a half.

Schiff has been assigned as the commanding officer of the 106th Precinct in Ozone Park, Queens.

The change in management at the 76th Precinct, which covers Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens, Red Hook and parts of Gowanus, will be "effective midnight" on Wednesday, Schiff said.

The precinct's next community council meeting is scheduled for Oct. 1 at the Miccio Center, located at 110 W. Ninth St., at 7:30 p.m.
