QUEENS — Forest Hills residents say groups of rowdy teens are plaguing the area near a McDonald's on Continental Avenue, where two stabbings took place last year.
Cops said that extra patrols have been dispatched to monitor Austin Street and the area around the restaurant ever since.
Last September, there were two stabbings in front of the restaurant, said Capt. Thomas Conforti, the commanding officer of the 112th Precinct.
“We’ve also partnered up with McDonald's to actually remove unwanted patrons from their establishment,” Conforti said.
Aurora Polanco, a manager at McDonald's, said the restaurant hired security on weekends to cope with the problem. She said sometimes groups of teens also come to the restaurant after school.
Conforti said that since the stabbings last year, there were no reported crime incidents in front of the location.
Several arrests have been made since but it was not clear for what.
Patricia Malley, a Forest Hills resident, said she often sees such groups on Saturday nights at the restaurant near Austin Street, the main shopping area in the neighborhood.
Last Saturday she said she encountered about 15 teens hanging out in front of McDonald's around 9 p.m.
“They were throwing soda, they were disrespectful, they were vulgar," she said at a 112th Precinct Community Council meeting Monday night. "I was afraid to walk along there.”
