MANHATTAN — A public school teacher was arrested in the early hours of Sunday morning in the Lower East Side, police said.
The man, identified as 38-year-old Isael Barias, was arrested at 1:07 a.m. behind the tower block apartments at 300 Cherry Street. Police couldn't confirm if Barias was a resident of the building.
Off-duty at the time of the incident, Barias is a NYC Department of Education teacher, according to police.
According to CBS News, Barias was found in possession of cocaine. He was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, and with the violation of local laws.
