ASTORIA — It's a match made in beer heaven.

New Long Island City brewery Big Alice Brewing is pairing up with restaurant Queens Kickshaw, a foodie-favorite in Astoria, to host a four-course "beer dinner" next week.

The beer-and-food pairing will feature a tasting menu of special Queens Kickshaw dishes matched with four different beers from Big Alice, which opened earlier this summer and specializes in producing small batch, limited edition brews.

The brewery — which also offers a season beer CSA — uses unique ingredients in crafting their beers, turning to food co-ops and farmers markets for inspiration.

Brews on the Queens Kickshaw tasting menu, for example, include a tripel made with purple potato and a white lager made with turmeric and lemongrass.

Those will be paired, respectively, with a biscuit slider served with purple potato chips and a green papaya salad, tossed in turmeric and orange dressing.

Dessert will match a Big Alice porter with Queens Kickshaw's chocolate and morsel stout cake.

Editor's Note: The tasting dinner takes place Tuesday, Aug. 20 at 6 p.m. at Queens Kickshaw, 40-17 Broadway in Astoria. Reservations are $60 per person and can be made by e-mailing info@thequeenskickshaw.com.
