CHELSEA — A vandal etched a swastika into the Google New York office's elevator Thursday, police said.
The suspect was caught on surveillance footage drawing the anti-Semitic symbol on an elevator button inside the building at 10:30 p.m. August 8, police said.
The property at 76 Ninth Ave., which Google bought for nearly $2 billion in cash in 2010 and shares the address of 111 Eighth Ave., serves as the company's East Coast headquarters.
The NYPD released a photo taken from the footage of the suspect leaving the building, and police are searching for clues to his identity or whereabouts, police said.
Police described the man as heavyset, in his 40s, and wearing an orange shirt, blue jeans and sneakers.
Calls to Google for comment were not immediately returned.
