NEW YORK CITY — A fire erupted in a Flatbush apartment building Friday morning, leaving at least three people displaced from their homes, officials said.

The blaze torched three apartments on the third floor of 1809 Albemarle Rd., near East 18th Street, about 12:30 a.m., according to the Red Cross and the FDNY's official Twitter feed.

Three people lived in one of the gutted units, according to the New York Red Cross, which provided them emergency housing and funds for food.

The tenants of the two other units were not home at the time of the fire, a Red Cross spokesman said.
