NEW YORK CITY — Two bogus electricians convinced a 79-year-old woman that they needed to check the wiring in her Astoria apartment — and then robbed her jewelry and $100, cops said.

The two men walked up to the woman about 1 p.m. Thursday and talked their way inside. That's when one walked around checking outlets while the other rumaged through her belongings, according to the NYPD.

The duo — believed to be in their 20s and 40s — fled in a silver Volkswagon, police said.

The victim was not injured.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
