DUMBO — Starting Aug. 9, Brooklyn art lovers can get an inside, somewhat macabre, look into classic Disney cartoon characters when "Silly Slicesophy," a solo exhibit by street artist NYCHOS, opens at the Mighty Tanaka gallery.
Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy and Pluto — along with their more contemporary counterpart, SpongeBob Squarepants — all go under the knife in Silly Slicesophy, according to the gallery, located at 111 Front St., Suite 224.
NYCHOS, who is originally from Austria, has received worldwide acclaim for his murals, which peek beneath the "skin" of iconic cartoon characters. He's worked throughout the United States, Canada and Europe.
Some of his more recent al fresco work can also be seen at Tutu's in Bushwick, according to Bedford + Bowery, where he completed a dissection of an orca on the bar's outer wall.
An opening reception for Silly Slicesophy will be held Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. The exhibit will remain on display at Mighty Tanaka through Sept. 6.
