MIDTOWN — Too bad King Kong never snapped a selfie.

The Empire State Building announced the third round of weekly winners in its second-annual "My Empire State Building" photo contest Monday.

Eight photographers — whose images ranged from an artsy shot of the building reflected off a shard of glass on the sidewalk, to a view of the skyscraper from among a row of cemetery headstones — each received an Empire State Building collectible for their images, plus a chance to be named one of 50 contest finalists.

At the end of the 15-week contest, which closes on Thursday, Sept. 5, one grand-prize winner will receive $5,000 and a silver-acetate, 8-by-10-inch framed print of the winning photo.

Both the weekly winners and 50 finalists are determined by Facebook votes. The grand prize winner will be selected by Empire State Building officials based on his or her photo's creativity and originality.

"The Empire State Building is a beloved symbol of New York City and one of the most photographed and recognizable landmarks in the world," Anthony E. Malkin, who controls the iconic skyscraper, said in a statement. "Each year, millions opt people from around the world photograph the World's Most Famous Office Building."
