EAST HARLEM — A woman playing basketball was hurt when a tree branch fell onto an East Harlem court, officials said.

The woman, who was not immediately identified, had been playing in a court near Metro North Plaza, at First Avenue and 102nd Street, when the branch pinned her about 8 p.m. Monday, according to an FDNY spokesman.

Witnesses said the branch lay across her upper body, preventing her from moving.

She was freed and taken to Weill Cornell Hospital where she was treated for minor injuries, the fire spokesman said.

Officials with the New York Housing Authority, which oversees the court, could not be reached for comment.
