QUEENS — Dozens of Queens foster kids will have a chance to play basketball and eat barbecue this Saturday, during an annual event organized by the Rego Park-Forest Hills Lions Club.

About 200 to 300 people are expected to attend the event at Forestdale Inc., a Forest Hills-based voluntary agency that provides foster care and other family services.

There will be an inflatable bounce house, gifts give away, carnival booths, where stuffed animals will be given as prizes and various team games.

“The Lions Club Festival is a wonderful event that Forestdale’s families look forward to every year," said the agency's executive director, Anstiss Agnew. "Our kids always head home with big smiles at the end of the day."

The Rego Park-Forest Hills Lions Club has been organizing the event for 15 years for Forestdale Inc., which has been operating since 1854, and serves over 1,000 Queens families every year, according to the organization.

“It’s one of our most joyous and important events of the year, we love doing it,” said Sher Sparano of the Rego Park-Forest Hills Lions Club.

“This is really a fun day and the whole goal is for them to have a good time. And they do.”
