UPPER EAST SIDE — Businesses on Madison Avenue has been booming in 2013 — the tony shopping district welcomed 14 new shops in the first six months of the year, according to a recent study.
The luxe establishments include stores, galleries and salons on Madison Avenue from East 57th to East 86th streets, the Madison Avenue Business Improvement District study, released last week, found.
Some of the businesses are brand new while others are flagships or additional retail spaces for long-established companies, the BID said.
"The eclectic group of retailers that have established new boutiques during the last six months represent the wide range of luxury offerings available on Madison Avenue,” Matthew Bauer, president of the Madison Avenue Business Improvement District (BID), said in a statement. "In addition to these new boutiques, many long-established Madison Avenue brands reinvested in Madison Avenue."
Baccarat, for example, opened a new boutique in June, Bauer said.

► James Perse (fashion & accessories), 1128 Madison Ave. (between East 83rd and 84th streets)
► Kate Spade (fashion & accessories), 789 Madison Ave. (between East 66th and 67th streets)
