TIMES SQUARE — Two cabs collided in the tourist-heavy district of Midtown on Monday afternoon, sending two people to the hospital, according to witnesses and officials.

A cab lost control and smashed into the rear of a southbound cab on Seventh Avenue near West 52nd Street about 3:30 p.m., witnesses said. The first cab then hopped a curb and slammed into a lamp post, witnesses said.

Two people — a pedestrian and one of the cab's drivers — were hospitalized after the crash, according to officials and reports.

One victim was sent to New York Hospital, while the other one, who was in more serious condition, was sent to Cornell Hospital, the FDNY said.

Harun Rashid, who sells posters at the intersection, said it was "scary," that the cab came within a few feet of his table.

"They're driving company cars and they don't care [about the cars,]" he said, accusing the cabbie who came from behind of speeding.

The driver whose cab was struck from behind behind declined to give his name or comment.
