MIDTOWN — A Japanese tourist was reported missing Thursday two weeks after she was last seen leaving a Midtown hotel, and just two days after she called her husband to ask for money, according to the NYPD.

Ayako Sato, 47, was last seen June 26, when she checked out of the Hotel Metro on West 35th Street after a four-night stay there, police said. She then contacted her husband July 9, when she called and requested cash.

She has not been heard from since.

Her husband reported her missing Thursday, police said.

Police distributed a photo of Sato Friday morning. She is described as 5-feet-5-inches tall and 105 pounds. She does not speak English.

Sato lives in Niigata City and arrived in the United States on May 28, when she flew into California, cops said.

Anyone with information about Sato's whereabouts is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers hotline at 8000-577-TIPS. Members of the public can also submit tips on the Crime Stoppers website, or by texting CRIMES (274637), then entering TIP577. All calls are confidential.
