RED HOOK — A 107-year-old houseboat has moved to Red Hook after being ousted from its Hoboken home last week, reports say.
The city of Hoboken evicted the Yankee Ferry from a city-owned pier in March, forcing it to move to the Gowanus Bay Terminal, where the boat is now docked, the Brooklyn Paper reported.
The ship, which serves as a bed-and-breakfast, spent eight years at a private pier in Hoboken but relocated to a pier owned by the New Jersey city after Hurricane Sandy struck last year, the paper said.
“After we got here, we knew it was meant to be,” owner Victoria MacKenzie-Childs told the paper, referring to the Brooklyn waterfront neighborhood.
“I want Red Hook to be as grateful to Yankee as Yankee is to Red Hook,” she added.
The Yankee Ferry crew did not provide comment further.
