UPPER EAST SIDE — Put down the profiterole.

New Yorkers with a sweet tooth have another French ice cream treat to help them contend with summer heat — macaron ice cream sandwiches, available at Francois Payard Patisserie, 1293 Third Ave. at East 75th Street.

The desserts, which are also sold at the chef's other bakery locations citywide, come in four flavors: a dairy-free chocolate-chocolate; coconut-mango; raspberry-pistachio; and strawberry-cheesecake.

Though this is the third year Payard has prepped this particular specialty, the strawberry-cheesecake variety is all new to 2013, Payard's spokespeople said.

Both the macarons — Payard's signature pastry — and ice cream are made in-house.

The macarons ice cream sandwiches cost $5.

"They come individually packaged and are great as a to-go snack," the Payard spokesperson added.
