Police Looking for Suspect In Greenpoint Rape

GREENPOINT — The NYPD has released details of a suspect sought for allegedly raping a 26-year-old woman at knifepoint in Greenpoint last Sunday night.

Shortly after midnight, the suspect approached the woman near the intersection of Java Street and Manhattan Avenue, police said. After attempting to strike up a conversation with her, he allegedly pinned her to the sidewalk and raped her.

According to The Brooklyn Paper, the suspect told her it was because she was gay.

The suspect is described as a male between 25 and 35 years old, with a medium build and dark hair. He was wearing a black T-shirt with a design on the front and jeans and was carrying a backpack at the time.
