TRIBECA — The Hudson River Park Trust has put out a call for “ambitious” restaurateurs to run a new waterfront eatery on TriBeCa’s revamped Pier 26.
The 3,335-square-foot restaurant will feature a large roof deck and outdoor dining, to take advantage of sweeping city and Hudson River views, according to a request for proposals released Wednesday by the Trust, which runs Hudson River Park.
The Trust is seeking a restaurateur who will create a “high-quality, yet casual, waterfront destination restaurant” and is looking for “innovate restaurant concepts that will attract both neighborhood residents and area visitors," according to the RFP.
“Just steps from the river, Hudson River Park’s Pier 26 restaurant is in one of the most remarkable and desirable locations in the entire city,” Madelyn Wils, CEO of Hudson River Park, said in a statement. “As a TriBeCa resident myself, I also know how much my neighbors will appreciate the combination of great food and gorgeous views we’re anticipating on Pier 26.”
Proposals for the year-round restaurant are due by Aug. 23 and the Trust hopes to select an operator by Sept. 27.
The new restaurant will open by May 2014, according to the RFP.
This summer, the newly overhauled Pier 26 will be home to a concert series, as well as a variety of Gay Pride events.
