INWOOD — Get ready for the return of the weekly double-parking parade, Inwood — alternate side parking regulations are coming back into effect later this month.
Manhattan's Community Board 12 announced Thursday that enforcement of the regulations will resume June 24, meaning that residents will once again have to move their cars for street cleaning.
Alternate side regulations had been suspended in Inwood and Washington Heights north of West 181st Street since April 29 while the Department of Transportation installed street signs showing the neighborhood's new street cleaning signs.
The Department of Sanitation reduced the frequency of street cleaning in the northern Manhattan neighborhoods from four days a week to two at the request of Community Board 12. Street cleaning days will vary from street to street.
The board passed a resolution asking for the reduction three years ago, citing area's high street cleanliness rating and a desire to make life easier for uptown motorists.
The DOT installed the new signs in two phases. The first phase took place in Washington Heights south of West 181st Street, where alternate side rules were suspended from March 18 through May 6.
