MANHATTAN — Several cars within a parking garage at Pier 40 in the West Village suddenly burst into flames Friday morning, fire officials and garage staff said.
The autos ignited about 6:21 a.m. inside the Pier 40 Parking garage, near West Street and West Houston Street, and were extinguished about 7:10 a.m., an FDNY spokesman said.
Fire marshals are investigating what sparked the blaze, he added.
No one was injured in the fire, the spokesman said.
A parking garage attendant at the Pier 40 Parking Garage, which is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is run by Central Parking, declined to comment.
