Cops Hunting for Burglar Stealing Money From Change Machines

QUEENS — Cops are looking for a burglar who broke into 13 apartment buildings in Rego Park, Forest Hills and Jackson Heights in five weeks, stealing money from change machines located in the basements.

In most cases, the suspect broke into buildings in the middle of the night, stealing unspecified amount of cash from the machines, cops said.

Several buildings were burglarized twice on the same day.

The burglary spree began on April 18, when the man broke into a building on Saunders Street in Rego Park, police said.

On April 24, he broke into two apartment buildings in Rego Park, also on Saunders Street.

On May 10, between 1:30 and 3 a.m. the suspect burglarized four buildings on 69th and 70th streets in Jackson Heights.

The most recent break-in occurred on May 20 on Austin Street in Forest Hills.
