CHELSEA — In preparation for its eventually transformation into a shopping and food hotspot, three restaurants will open up shop on Pier 57 this summer.

Gowanus' Fletcher's Brooklyn Barbecue, NoLiTa's The Butcher's Daughter Juice Bar and Van Leeuwen Ice Cream will serve their fare on the pier at West 15th Street and the Hudson River, according to a spokeswoman for Hudson River Park.

Each restaurant will set up shop in a repurposed storage container on the long-negelected pier — a nod to an upcoming redevelopment plan that will include a large marketplace made up of similar structures.

The overall redevelopment plan, designed by Youngwoo & Associates, will create about 305,000 square feet of rentable space, along with an open rooftop that will be used by the TriBeCa Film Festival for outdoor film screenings. The redesigned pier will also eventually have a cooking school.
