NEW YORK CITY — Call him silent but dandy.
A would-be bank robber donning a newsboy cap, tie and jacket tried to rob a Third Avenue Bank of America on Wednesday by "shushing" the teller, but ended up fleeing the scene empty-handed, cops said.
The suspect entered the bank at 900 Third Ave. about 10:10 a.m. and passed a note to a teller demanding money, according to the NYPD.
He then raised his index finger to pursed lips as if to silence the teller, surveillance footage showed, but ultimately fled with nothing, police said.
The suspect is described as in his 20s, standing about 5-foot-9 and weighing approximately 170 pounds, cops said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
